Product Description RIN DAUGHTERS OF MNEMOSYNE:COMP SERIE - Blu-Ray Mo
Amazon.com Although it incorporates a lot of up-to-date CG effects, the violent fantasy Rin: Daughter of Mnemosyne (2008) feels older than it is. The story elements lifted from earlier series ranging from Ah! My Goddess to X contribute to the passé tone. Having ingested a "time fruit" produced by Yggdrasil (the tree of creation in Norse mythology), Rin, the voluptuous title character, is immortal--and she proves it by dying and coming back with a frequency Shirley MacLaine might envy. Assisted by her equally deathless sidekick Mimi, Rin pursues mysteries and malefactors that invariably involve the eerie Apos, the murderous immortal/cyborg Sayara, and various members of the Maeno family. All the evil schemes and feats of derring-do provide opportunities for a lot of fan-service nudity and grotesque violence. Rin feels like a throwback to the sadistic misogyny of Wicked City and Demon City Shinjuku: Rin, Mimi, and the secondary female characters are subjected to assaults that range from mutilation and torture to being simultaneously raped and devoured by male angels. Although the subtitle refers to Mnemosyne, the personification of memory in Greek mythology, Rin is better forgotten. (Rated TV MA: suitable for ages 18 and over: nudity, profanity, grotesque imagery, alcohol use, violence, violence against women, cannibalism, torture, and sexual situations, including lesbianism and bondage) --Charles Solomon (1. Cats Don't Laugh, 2. Angels Don't Cry, 3. Flowers Don't Shed Tears, 4. Ghosts Don't Scream, 5. Holy Nights Don't Shine Brightly, 6. And Then, to the Door of the Kingdom)

Satisfying to the very end February 15, 2010 Alberto Colon 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
Completely disregarding all those reviews insulting the anime,I will be one to say that I could not ask for anything better out of this series. Some people would say that only having six episodes would be a major drawback to this series, well I have to disagree,There are plenty of great anime titles out there and half of them do not last 20 episodes or even 10 for that matter.Adding to that, each episode runs 45 mins long,so if it were to run 20 mins per episode, the series would be a standard 12 episode long anime.Putting that aside,Rin:Daughters Of Mnemosyne sets a unique tone that we do not often see.Containing lots of gore, nudity, and profanity,I would not be surprised if this anime is the only one of its kind.To be honest,I would not mind if it was the only one. This anime is fulfilling and will be remember by many.I recommend seizing the chance and buy it now while it is still at a reasonable price.
Mature Series, great action/mystery February 12, 2010 Tristan A. Hayes (Richmond, VA USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Rin is an action packed fast moving exciting series that revolves around action, mystery, suspense, and love. It is a mature title and several of those elements are seen throughout, for example the high price of getting information from informants. The story itself was moving and enjoyable and the ending was surely satisfying. I loved every second of it and recommend it to fans of the genre.
All in all there is a perfect balance April 29, 2010 J. snitily I really enjoyed this series. It has a strong story line and the perfect balance of blood, gore, fantasy, and the supernatural. It can be a little dark but there is also a light hearted feeling. there is mistery, horror and even a love story.
Well done erotic horror May 30, 2010 Jonathan C. Collins (Santa Fe, NM USA) I enjoyed this series. It has a level of quality that is consistent.
For me a standout was the english voice of Rin.
But there is a mystery. Colleen Clinkenbeard sounds suspiciously
like the woman who voiced Nenene in Read Or Die
the television series. I mean really, Clinkenbeard is a name?
Two complaints. It is too short at 300 minutes which also makes
this a pricey package. The music varies widely
in quality, from well done to cheap synthesiser near hentai like stuff.
That may of been on purpose because this
series is as near hentai as you can get without being real hentai.
The male japanese fascination with lesbian sex
gets the full treatment here. Great animation and action scenes.
Great Anime for Adults August 24, 2010 GadgetDustMan This was a great animated series. It was short (6 episodes), but each episode was about 60 minutes long. It has a wonderfully complex and twisted story line dealing with immortality. This one is definitely for the adults though. It has a lot of erotic scenes as well as a whole lot of blood and gore in every episode. The series gets more and more twisted through the series. This is the kind of anime that usually doesn't make it to English dub, but I'm glad it did, because subtitles tend to draw my attention away from the actual art of the anime.
