5 out of 5 stars excellent   July 19, 2010

The dragon box volume 3 is a great collection for dragonball z fans. the case is very sturdy and will properly protect and display the DVDs. This volume covers ALL of Goku's battle with Freiza, the Garlic Jr. saga, and all the way up to the 1st episode that Androids 19 and 20 are in.

I love my dragonbox to death. The case is just amazing, I can't stop looking at it everytime I see it. The other big thing i love about this collection is the next episode previews. I love being able to watch this footage that i had never seen before. If you are a dragonball z fan and have the money to buy this collection.BUY IT!!

5 out of 5 stars Exactly what I expected   August 19, 2010

It is great to have the whole season in one box. And each box adds together with the other season to create a great picture that looks nice on a shelf. The price was great and it got to us very quickly. Actually ordered another Dragonball Z set and will probably order the next season when available.Worth every penny!

5 out of 5 stars Scratched disc, Amazon was great, oh and the product rocks   September 3, 2010

I'm not going to bother writing a review of the item itself seeing as I agree with everyone who gave the product 5 stars. However, do be warned that this box set is currently priced 15 to 20 dollars cheaper at Walmart and Target compared to Amazon's 50-ish price.

I just wanted to review Amazon itself and their selling of this item. The first volume 3 box set I received had the tiniest of scratches on Disc 15. However, this inhibited the playing of one whole episode and skipped over sections of others. Amazon was great in helping me replace this with another box set. The customer service I received was the best I have from anywhere and I got the new box set the day after calling. Amazon is a great seller to buy from!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic set, but...   May 13, 2010

This is another great set in FUNimation's American Dragon Box line. There really isn't much more to say about this one that hasn't already been said about the previous two sets. As a 20-year-old, hand-drawn anime, this is as good as Dragon Ball Z is ever going to look on DVD. The packaging is deluxe and pristine, and it's clear that FUNimation took great care in preserving the presentation of the more-valuable-than-gold Japanese Dragon Boxes. As someone who has been waiting years for FUNi to treat this series with some respect, I couldn't be happier to finally have a set like this-- to say nothing of eventually owning the entire series like this.

My only complaint is with some of the episodes themselves. While there are several gems on here, in my opinion, this is the weakest compilation of episodes so far. Between the overly-long and repetitive Goku VS Freeza battle, the underwhelming and laborious Garlic Jr. saga, and the fact that this set ends right when the Android saga kicks into gear (specifically, right after Yamucha gets impaled by #20), it does leave you wanting more when it's over. However, it was great to finally get to revisit several parts of the show that I hadn't seen in years.

Minor content issues aside, I still wholly recommend this set, along with the two others. FUNimation has finally gotten it right, and I urge every DBZ fan to support this Dragon Box line to ensure that they continue all the way through Dragon Box Seven.

EDIT: Now that these are being sold for less than $30, there is NO reason to not pick these up! Get 'em while you can!

What is left to be said about these sets that hasn't already been said? I own Volumes One & Two and will pre-order this set as well.

Yes, it's more of the same:
*No extras (unless you count the booklet or trailers)
*No ENG Dub BGM
*42 EPIC episodes, spanning the end of the "FREEZA" arc, the "GARLIC Jr." arc, the "TRUNKS/MECHA FREEZA" arc and the first episode of the "ARTIFICIAL
HUMAN" arc
*Superior picture quality compared to the "season" sets/"Orange Brick" release
*Superior audio quality compared to the "season" sets/"Orange Brick" release
*Another gorgeous booklet containing episode summaries and other "extras"
*PLUS: Freeza just looks damn creepy ^_^

As a fan, I couldn't ask for more. I don't need useless ENG voice actor commentary or a look at their recording process. I don't need JPN eye drop commercials or TOONAMI promos. I don't need "clean" opening/ending animations (fans of the JPN version provided on FUNi's releases have had them for years, anyway). And I certainly don't need an ENG dub track. I'd be fine with just subtitles. After all, you don't hear me complain that the "ORIGINAL" ENG dub for episodes 1-53/67 aren't on these sets, further demonstrating how these aren't the "DEFINITIVE EDITION". But I digress...

So, for all the people who don't want to buy these sets because their precious ENG BGM isn't included, I truly am sorry. Neither the "Orange Brick" or DBox can truly be the "definitive edition/version/master/blah blah blah" that FUNi keeps proclaiming them to be until Faulconer's BGM is included. But as for myself, I finally have my "definitive edition/version/master/blah blah blah", and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
