The second season of the harem comedy Ah! My Goddess unleashes an emotional rollercoaster as Norse goddess Belldandy experiences confusion, jealousy, impotence, despair and, of course, devotion to (and from) good-hearted nerd Keiichi Morisato. When she sealed away the Lord of Terror at the end of Season 1, some data was deleted in Heaven--including the contract linking her to Keiichi. To restore the missing file, he must remember the exact wording of the wish that brought them together. Once that problems gets sorted out, a succession of girls--natural and supernatural--pursue Keiichi. Shiho, a pretty freshman at Nekomi Tech, flummoxes him by writing a love note. The voluptuous goddess Peorth decides she's going to replace Belldandy by granting his most heartfelt wish. Mariler, the demon who caused so many problems in the first season, reappears. She's as incompetent as ever, so Hild, the formidable ruler of Demonkind, steps in to complicate matters further. In between these adventures, Skuld experiences puppy love and Urd goes beyond The Three Faces of Eve when Mariler physically splilts the demonic and divine sides of her personality. Things end happily when Peorth's training, Chihiro's hints and a potion of Urd's finally get Keiichi to tell Belldandy he loves her. In short, the filmmakers deliver the special mixture of syrupy sentimentality and broad slapstick comedy that Ah! My Goddess fans expect. (Rated TV PG, suitable for ages 12 and older: alcohol use, minor risqué humor, comic violence, brief nudity) -- Charles Solomon

5 out of 5 stars A Great Second Season To A Fantastic Anime   November 29, 2008

If you've already seen the first season you pretty much know the main four characters if not I really advise getting the first season or watching it on t.v. to familiarize yourself with the characters. The short info is that in the first season you had Keiichi Morisato a young college student with little going for him girl wise makes a unique call to a real goddesses help line and contacts Belldandy a beautiful goddess who tells him he can have one wish, by mistake he wishes that Belldandy stay with him on earth and while it may have been a mistake of the tongue the two truly start to fall in love with each other. Along the course of the first season we get introduced to Urd the older half-sister(Who while has a loving heart is also quite flirtatious to)and Skuld the youngest sister(Who is a mechanical genius and while has a great intelligence to make fantastic machines still has the mentality of a young child.). The second season introduces us to a rival of sorts to Belldandy by the name of Peorth another beautiful goddess who claims to just be trying to give Keiichi his inner wish but actually starts to fall for him as well. The second season like the first is mostly light-hearted with most of the episodes having some kind of scenario that tries to cause problems between Belldandy and Keiichi and their love. The video is like the first season nice and clear and the voice actors for both the English and Japanese cast did a great job. The extras are just commentaries from mostly the English voice cast and that's about it. The four dvds are in two thinpack cases that hold two dvds each and put inside a paper sleeve case. that is probably my only complaint with the release of the set ADV films at least had their thinpack sleeve cases made of cardboard so they wouldn't tear as easily I wish Funimation would do the same with their new set releases. But still for this great series I can afford to overlook that and to all fans who loved the first season I say get the second as soon as possible you'll not be disappointed with your decision...

5 out of 5 stars One of my top anime favs   December 29, 2008

I heard about Ah! My Goddess when I was in junior high from a classmate. When I accidentally discovered season 1 at Best Buy, I decided that I had to get it. I immediately fell in love with Belldandy's optimistic confidence and caring heart. I also enjoyed Keiichi's shyness and determination. It reminded me of myself. I couldn't wait for season 2.
The voice acting for both Japanese and English dubbed are both rather decently equal in my opinion. The opening theme catches me from the start. The romance between Belldandy and Keiichi finds difficulty and perserverance. With difficulties from Urd's love potions, Skuld's inventions, Marller's evil wits, Megumi's nosiness, and the autoclub's crazy ideas, it proves quite challenging for Keiichi and Belldandy. Season 2 also introduces a few new interesting characters.
By far, this series of "Ah! My Goddess" has become my absolute #1 favorite anime of all time. It is well worth getting both seasons. I really hope season 3 makes it soon.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Series Ever...With The Worst English Dub Ever   January 30, 2010

First off, the English dub, of my favorite anime, is so far beyond bad that it defies all logical description!

Now that you have switched the menu to Japanese audio with English sub, you have a whole new ball game. The innocent, yet amazingly powerful magical girlfriend, Belldandy, her voluptuous and seductive half-stsre, Urd...and one of the most aggravating, yet lovable characters in all of anime/manga, her little sister, Skuld. Skuld is the girl who single-handedly invented the "onee-sama complex," hopelessly idolizing and worshipping Belldandy, while hating Urd in a humorous and futile way. And then, the most clueless of all anime boyfriends, Morisato Keiichi (K-1). It seems that only Bell can see the wonder in K-1. The supporting cast is also delightful, especially a very small minion, named Senbi. In short, and in Japanese with English subs, this is one of the truly epic anime series. The brilliant theme singing of no less than anime goddesses Ishida Yoko and Takahashi Youko serve to top off this delight. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did...season 1 & 2, the movie, the OVA, and Fighting Wings. Then, I believe the manga is now up to Volume 35...and Keiichi is starting to rival St. Joseph for the title of "most chaste (not yet) spouse."

Compare the Belldandy of the reigning Queen of Japanese seiyu, Inoue Kikuko, with the lame US voice of Brigette Hoffman. Oops, I'm sorry, you can't, because there simply is NO comparison.

Season 2 develops the plot even more...and you have the delightful Episode 3..."...is that an engagement ring, or not?"

4 out of 5 stars Hard to match the first, but a solid compliment here   March 4, 2009

While the first season of Ah My Goddess! introduced you to the all the characters and their motivations, Flights of Fancy does a very good job to further flesh out these characters and introduces two new ones. However, while the first season generally saw no direct interference with the main protaganists' relationship, the second season directly goes that route to forcefully develop said relationship. While this works as a plot device, it does conflict with some of the clean charm and innocence that made the first season so refreshing. Still much of the fare remains, while all the characters are further developed. A very good follow-up to the first season.
